Ignite Fabric Sessions

Delivered by in-field experts in First Technology Digital's Data & Analytics team. Embrace the power of Microsoft Fabric by enabling your reporting teams. Six sessions of two hours each, building from fundamentals to administration and governance. Each session carries a certification component.

Fundamentals of a Unified Platform

  • OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2 and semantic models
  • How Fabric fits with Data Factory, Synapse and Power BI
  • Licensing, workspaces, permissions and F vs P capacities

FDDA-FAB-02

Ingesting Data, Pipelines & Dataflows

  • Ingest from REST, databases and files using Pipelines and Dataflows Gen2
  • Activities, triggers and scheduling, compared with ADF
  • Authentication, dynamic JSON, error handling, logging and retries

FDDA-FAB-03

Lakehouses, Notebooks & Delta Tables

  • The Lakehouse model and Delta Lake format, explored with SQL or Spark
  • ACID transactions, schema enforcement, Parquet and transaction logs
  • External tables and links to storage such as ADLS Gen2

Data Warehouse in Fabric

  • Build dimensional models and optimise performance
  • Medallion architecture, and moving data between Warehouse and Lakehouse
  • Views, stored procedures, indexing and re-usable logic

FDDA-FAB-05

Semantic Models & Power BI Integration

  • Create semantic models and define relationships
  • DAX measures, hierarchies and drill-down analysis
  • Build reports and dashboards on top

Administration, Governance & Best Practices

  • Role-based access and workspace permissions
  • Monitoring, capacity tracking and data lineage
  • Deployment pipelines, naming conventions and version control
