01

The challenge

One of South Africa’s largest shoe retailers, with the broadest store footprint of its kind in the region, needed a solution it could reach from anywhere and roll out to every store at once. It had to be bespoke but configurable, so the business could keep adding to it over time.

02

The approach

The hard part was the design: building from the ground up while keeping it flexible enough to absorb more and more of the business over time. We built the One App as a shell that acts as the admin centre and container for everything else, then added a ticketing system, sales tracking and a stock-take tool, all reached through the one app. It stays customisable, so the business can add users, links, ticket types, banners and notifications itself. We ran it on Azure’s serverless resources, which meant the development and production environments came up quickly and securely and scale close to real time, and we kept the system standalone with few dependencies.

03

The outcome

The retailer got a single cloud solution across more than 400 stores, with real-time sales and operations tracking. Stock takes, sales targets and internal tickets all live in one modular app the business can extend itself, and the first version with its sub-solutions was delivered in four months.

Summary & benefits

  • One modular app across 400+ stores, with real-time sales and operations tracking.
  • Stock takes, sales tracking and a customisable ticketing system in one place.
  • Serverless Azure infrastructure that provisions fast and scales near real time.
