Sasol is an integrated energy company with operations in more than 30 countries and one of South Africa’s largest workforces. When Covid-19 vaccinations became available, Sasol urgently needed a system to run staff vaccinations end to end: capturing information digitally, communicating by SMS, and exporting cleanly into South Africa’s Electronic Vaccination Database System.
We agreed the end-to-end vaccination process with Sasol, then mapped each step to the right piece of Microsoft’s cloud toolset. Microsoft Forms and Power Apps handled the consent form and the admin interfaces, prototyped and built quickly to fit the requirement, with Power Automate tying the steps together so each runs consistently. Data is managed centrally in Dataverse, and two premium connectors handle SMS communication and integration with Sasol’s SAP-based HR data. Sasol ran the project Agile with their own Scrum master, and we put it through a formal user-acceptance test, training champion users during UAT to speed things up. The whole project was delivered in four weeks.
Sasol was able to stand up a vaccination management system fast enough to meet the urgency of the moment. It captures employee consent, generates Excel output for easy import into the EVDS, and manages appointment slots or controlled arrival for vaccinations and follow-ups.
